The Ford Escape is one of our most popular vehicles. This small SUV is packed with versatility, value, advanced technology and sporty styling. The Escape is frequently compared to the Toyota RAV4, as this model offers similar features and capability but these two vehicles are not the same. The following is a quick comparison to help you learn more about each of these new vehicles.
The 2019 Toyota RAV4 has one of the highest starting prices in its class, at $25,500. There are four trims above the base model, with prices increasing by thousands with each step up. The range-topping RAV4 Limited starts at $33,500.
The 2019 Ford Escape starts at $24,105, which is about average for the class. Two mid-level trims have starting prices of $26,500 and $28,445. The top-tier Escape Titanium starts at $32,620.
Entry level Ford Escape models are powered by a 168-horsepower 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine. It delivers plenty of power for most typical driving but a 179-horsepower 1.5-liter turbo-four engine as well as a strong 245-horsepower, turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine are also available. The Toyota RAV4 only has one engine option: a 203-horsepower four-cylinder.
The Escape comes standard with Ford’s basic SYNC system, which includes a 4.2-inch display screen and a USB port. Ford’s SYNC 3 touch-screen infotainment system with satellite radio, Android Auto, and Apple CarPlay are also available.
The base RAV4 includes Bluetooth, a Wi-Fi hot spot, a USB port, Siri Eyes Free, and an easy-to-use 7-inch touch screen with Apple CarPlay. Available features include HD Radio, satellite radio, and an 8-inch touch screen.
