2019 Ford Fusion vs. 2019 Chevy Malibu

Today’s Car shoppers have a wide array of choices for fuel efficient cars.  Just about every auto manufacturer offers a selection of inexpensive and efficient cars to choose from.  With so many choices its hard to know where to start. That’s why we have created the following new vehicle comparison between the popular Ford Fusion and the Chevrolet Malibu.

Both the Fusion and the Malibu have standard driver and passenger frontal airbags, front side-impact airbags, driver and front passenger knee airbags, side-impact head airbags,four-wheel antilock brakes, traction control and electronic stability systems to prevent skidding. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) has given both of these cars the highest 5 star rating for front crash tests. In side impact tests the NHTSA rated the Fusion at five stars and the Malibu with a similar rating of four stars.

Compare Performance

If you want a powerful engine under the hood the best choice is the new Ford Fusion. The most powerful new Ford Fusion (Sport 2.7 turbo V6) delivers a remarkable 325 horsepower and 380 lbs.-ft. of torque. The most powerful Chevy Malibu (Premier 2.0 turbo 4 cyl.) offers only 250 horsepower and 260 lbs.-ft. of torque. More horsepower and torque allow the Fusion to be more responsive in a shorter amount of time.

Suspension & Handling

The Fusion has standard front and rear gas-charged shocks for better control over choppy roads. The Malibu’s suspension doesn’t offer gas-charged shocks. The Fusion also offers an available driver-adjustable suspension system. It allows the driver to choose between an extra-supple ride, reducing fatigue on long trips, or a sport setting, which allows maximum control for tricky roads. The Malibu’s suspension doesn’t offer adjustable shock absorbers.

The Fusion has vehicle speed sensitive variable-assist power steering, for low-effort parking, better control at highway speeds and during hard cornering, and a better feel of the road. The Malibu doesn’t offer variable-assist power steering.
